It is rare that an itinerary for an prospective job comes in containing the words ‘National Park’, ‘private plane’ and ‘exclusive camp’. Tasked with documenting a behind the scenes project for one of Zimbabwe’s most iconically luxurious brands, Patrick Mavros Jewellery, in one of my favourite areas of Zimbabwe, Gonarezhou National Park, I of course willingly accepted. This trip was something of a milestone for Bad Rabbit Studio; a trip to the bush (in severe comfort), working closely with a celebrated Zimbabwean brand and a talented creative team. I loved every moment of it.
What an immense privilege it was to work alongside –
The photographer: Sven Kristian, bearded, blond and blue eyed, he bobbed and weaved, snapping class shot after class shot like a champion boxer landing one perfect punch after another. This man was the business.
The model: Chelsea Wilson, a photographer herself, she understands how best to use her environment to her advantage with professionalism and warmth.
The designer: Patrick Mavros Jnr, delivers a fresh, chic take on one of Africa’s most misunderstood and endangered mammals, delivering a timely and important message of conservation and conscience. 10% of all sales from the Pangolin Collection is donated to The Tikki Hywood Trust. The artistic concept of the shoot setting and marketing tone and placement was entirely Patrick’s and it was spot on. Adwina provided much appreciated support and creative input throughout the extended shoot.
I made sure that I lapped up as much as I could. Thanks everyone!
